PM Modi Unveils ₹70,000 Crore Mega Development Push Across Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh

PM Modi will begin his visit in Sikkim by attending the “Sikkim@50” celebration to mark the state’s golden jubilee of statehood.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day visit to Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh on May 29 and 30, during which he will launch, dedicate, and lay the foundation stone for a wide range of development projects worth over ₹70,000 crore, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

PM Modi will begin his visit in Sikkim by attending the “Sikkim@50” celebration to mark the state’s golden jubilee of statehood. He will inaugurate key infrastructure, including:

  • A new 500-bedded district hospital in Namchi (₹750 crore)
  • A passenger ropeway at Sangachoeling, Pelling
  • A statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Gangtok
    He will also release commemorative coins and postal stamps to honor the occasion.

In Alipurduar, the PM will lay the foundation stone for the City Gas Distribution (CGD) project worth ₹1,010 crore, aimed at supplying clean energy to over 2.5 lakh households, industries, and commercial entities.

Later in Patna, he will inaugurate a new passenger terminal at Patna Airport (₹1,200 crore) and lay the foundation stone for the Bihta Airport civil enclave (₹1,410 crore), enhancing aviation capacity for the capital region.

PM Modi will launch ₹48,520 crore worth of development projects, including:

  • Stage-II of the Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project (₹29,930 crore)
  • Key highway projects: four- and six-laning of critical stretches and new Ganga bridge
  • Rail upgrade: third line between Son Nagar and Mohammad Ganj (₹1,330 crore)

In Kanpur Nagar, the Prime Minister will unveil development projects worth ₹20,900 crore, such as:

  • Inauguration of Chunniganj to Kanpur Central Metro section (₹2,120 crore)
  • Foundation stones for power infrastructure under YEIDA and Greater Noida (₹320 crore)
  • Inauguration of the Panki Thermal Power Extension Project (₹8,300 crore) and Ghatampur Thermal Power units (₹9,330 crore)
  • New rail overbridges, tertiary sewage treatment plant, and road widening projects under the Defence Corridor

He will also distribute benefits and certificates to beneficiaries under key welfare schemes like PM Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana and PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

The visit emphasizes the Centre’s commitment to boosting infrastructure, clean energy, connectivity, and regional development across eastern and northern India.
